More Road Trip...

Lots of driving, too much drinking, mostly Old Style beer, and eating rich food. The Bohemian food at the McCook restaurant was great, one the highlights of the trip.

Beer and chips at the airport lounge, not a bad way to fly.

Stopped by my old college, hadn't been back since I graduated, and gave rocky the bulldog a pat on the head. Didn't go in for a visit since all the people I knew there are long gone.
Visited the Kibbe biology station since it was on our way to Iowa. It was at a good place on the drive to stop and go for a walk. Nobody was around, so we had the place to ourselves. I don't remember if it was open for classes when I was in college, but now I can say I've been there. I donated some money, so maybe now they can fix their sign!
For some strange reason, blogger won't accept some of the photos I tried to post here. They're all in the jpeg format, so not sure what's going on; maybe I'll try tomorrow when blogger's in a better mood!
Blogger must be in a better mood, cause it let me post more pics. Andy and her brother at the Des Moines River in Iowa, where we had a family reunion, of sorts, when none of his kids showed up. But the three of us still had a good time!

The dinosaur at the museum in Rock Island at Augustana College. Andy worked there when she was in college and where we attended her 50th reunion. Met a lot of her class mates, went to a football game, and sat through a boring reunion dinner. You can't always get what you want, but sometimes it's still good enough.

Road Trip...

Spent the last couple of weeks in the Lower 48, as they call it up here, mostly visiting relatives in the midwest. Here's a few pics...

The leaves were just starting to change, but a few trees had a lot of color.

Driving along the Mississippi River scenic parkway near Moline, Illinois.
The view from the Mississippi River bluffs near Dubuque, Iowa, unfortunately the only day of rain on the trip.
Got to watch a tugboat pushing barges into a lock to get upstream of the dam. But it started to rain hard before we could see how they got them out, since the tug didn't fit in the lock with the barges.
Turkey buzzards crossing the parking lot in Dubuque. This is the most wildlife we saw on the trip.
Sunset over the motel roof in Moline. Maybe will do another post about the trips further adventures.
