After an unusually cool May and early June, the dog days of summer have arrived, just in time for the solstice. The first day of astronomical summer in the northern hemisphere, in Alaska it's the long hours of daylight, 22 hours and change, that are most remarkable now. While it didn't quite get to a hundred in the sun, we've had a few eighty degree days this week, and that's plenty warm for us and the dogs.

Summer Solstice...
The sad saga of the unridable seat was finally resolved. While still not what I wanted, at least they cut down the back end, so you're not constantly sliding forward, and used a denser foam, so it doesn't feel like you're sitting on the rear fender. Next time I'll send it somewhere they specialize in motorcycle seats.
Now I just need to plan some new trips to enjoy riding in comfort again!

Ride to Ester...
Not much new going on, with the windows installed, it's been back to splitting firewood. Since most of the wood cut last year is split, went out today and found some dead and down trees and started bucking them up, variety being the spice of life. Did take the seat from the v65 Guzzi into the sole reupholstery shop in town and they did a remarkably bad job on it, so had to take it back for some improvements. But while it was on the bike, rode out to Ester for the monthly Airheads ride. Not sure why I did it, cause the seat was terribly uncomfortable, but it was good to get out for a ride and visit with some fellow bikers. It's like getting together with dog drivers and talking about sled dogs, only mechanical!
Didn't think to take any photos of the group or ride, so a shot of the Guzzi parked next to Steve's BMW in the parking lot will have to do. Maybe next time will have a decent seat to ride on and get some better pics!
